Mental Health in San Francisco

If you are in need of mental health services and you live in San Francisco and have Medi-Cal, Healthy SF, SF Mental Health Plan or no health insurance, you can call Behavioral Health Access Center (BHAC): 415-255-3737, or 888-246-3333, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You may need to leave a message during off hours and a clinician will call you back. A clinician will assess your needs by phone and work to assign you a clinician. This process can take anywhere from 1 week to 1-2 months based on client need and clinician availability. If you are need of psychiatry services, you can also call BHAC. They may be able to connect you with a psychiatrist in the Private Provider Network or refer you to the medication clinic at Mission Mental Health Clinic.

  • Westside Crisis Clinic (Website) The crisis clinic provides services to all individuals, including homeless people, who need immediate psychiatric care. They provide one-hour sessions, diagnoses, as well as referrals. Must be one of the first five people to line up, first come first serve. Hours: Monday - Friday

  • Queer Lifespace (Website) Queer Lifespace provides low-cost, long-term mental health and substance use services to the queer community.
